Israeli army intercepts missile launched from Yemen

A missile launched from Yemen towards Israel on May 14 at 10:48 was intercepted, according to a statement from the Israeli Army's press service.

At the same time, Israeli media note that this is the third missile launch from Yemen in the past 24 hours since the start of US President Trump's visit to the Middle East, Caliber.Az reports.

On May 13, a ballistic missile launched from Yemen at Israel was also intercepted by the country's air defences.

Two women were injured during the incident: a 40-year-old in Holon, who sustained lower body injuries when she tripped while heading to a bomb shelter, and a 65-year-old in Ramat Gan, who suffered minor head injuries. Both were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Sirens were activated across central Israel and the Jerusalem area, with an early warning issued shortly before the sirens, alerting civilians to the incoming missile. A second missile, launched later, fell short of Israel, with no sirens triggered as it did not pose a threat.

The missile attacks follow Israeli airstrikes on Houthi-controlled infrastructure in response to a prior missile strike that hit Ben Gurion Airport. As a result of the strike, many international airlines suspended flights to Israel, though Wizz Air announced plans to resume services to Tel Aviv on May 15.
