Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) President Samir Rzayev has met with Essam bin Saleh Al-Jutaili, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan, to discuss expanding air passenger traffic and strengthening bilateral aviation ties.
The meeting centered on increasing cooperation and exploring new opportunities in the aviation sector, Caliber.Az reports citing AZAL.
During the discussion, the sides underscored the significance of enhancing passenger traffic and deepening collaboration in the aviation industry. They also emphasized how such efforts would foster the growth of tourism and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.
One key point highlighted was the projected increase in tourism, with an estimated 94,300 Saudi tourists having visited Azerbaijan last year. This figure exemplifies the dynamic progression of bilateral relations and the expanding mutual interest between the two nations.
In addition, the two sides expressed a shared commitment to expanding the route network and strengthening air connectivity between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia. Currently, AZAL operates regular flights on the Baku-Dammam-Baku route twice a week—on Mondays and Fridays, and to Riyadh three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
The enhanced cooperation in the aviation sector is expected to play a crucial role in fostering closer ties between the two nations, contributing to the growth of both tourism and broader economic collaboration.
