Iran has expressed willingness to remove highly enriched uranium from its territory as part of efforts to ease tensions with the United States.
However, Tehran is insisting that any transfer of the material must be directed to China, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“Iran is ready to remove highly enriched uranium from its territory,” the broadcaster quoted sources as saying, adding that Tehran has made shipment to China a key condition.
The sources also said the Islamic Republic is seeking guarantees from Beijing before moving ahead with further negotiations with Washington.
The reported development comes amid ongoing diplomatic manoeuvring over Iran’s nuclear programme and wider efforts to de-escalate tensions with the US.
