Israel's newly appointed ambassador to Azerbaijan has praised Baku’s diplomacy and commitment to peaceful coexistence, as officials from both countries gathered to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Israeli Ambassador Ronen Krausz made the remarks during a roundtable meeting with representatives of the Coordination Centre of Mountain Jews and the Mountain Jewish Community of Akko, Israel, Caliber.Az reports via Jewish Channel.

“Azerbaijan is a country where everyone feels free, happy and respected. Here I have witnessed not only a high level of diplomacy but genuine humanitarian values,” Krausz said. He expressed confidence that ties between Israel and Azerbaijan would continue to flourish.

The main focus of the meeting was enhancing cooperation across various fields between the two nations. Regional security was also addressed, with participants highlighting Azerbaijan's consistent and principled stance on a peaceful resolution to the Armenia–Azerbaijan conflict.

Those present voiced hope for the swift signing of a peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan, while condemning what they described as Armenia’s provocative actions in the region.

The roundtable included political and civic leaders, among them Israeli Defence Ministry adviser Pavel Elizarov and Ben Sion Shmaelov, head of the Cultural Centre of Caucasian Jews in Kiryat Yam.
