Russia's president considers potential successor, says final decision up to citizens

Russian President Vladimir Putin is constantly thinking about who could become his successor in the highest office, but emphasised that the final decision will ultimately rest with the Russian people.

"I always think about this," the president said, explaining that he continuously evaluates potential candidates and assesses their capabilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

While acknowledging the role of electoral technologies and administrative resources, Putin stressed the importance of public trust in determining who can lead Russia. He stated, "A person who lacks the trust of the people is unlikely to have a serious chance to make something happen. This is absolutely a fundamental issue."

"So, when I think about this, and I think about it all the time, of course, I think about the fact that there should be a person, or better yet, several people, so that people have a choice, who could earn this trust from the citizens of the country," Putin concluded.
