Iran has the right to develop its civilian nuclear program and to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Sky News Arabia TV channel, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, Iran has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes: “Russia is ready to provide the necessary assistance and support to Iran in the development of peaceful nuclear energy, as it has done in previous years.”
Putin noted that Russia remains committed to its position on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons: “The position of the Russian Federation is that we are against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction at the expense of any country in the world, including Iran.”
He emphasized that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has no information about Iran attempting to develop nuclear weapons: “Iran has repeatedly stated that it has no intention of creating nuclear weapons. There are no signs or evidence of the development of nuclear weapons in the IAEA either.”
