Tajik President Emomali Rahmon departed for Azerbaijan on July 4 to attend a summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), a regional bloc comprising Central Asian, Middle Eastern, and South Asian nations.
Rahmon was seen off at Dushanbe International Airport by senior Tajik officials, including the speakers of both houses of parliament, the prime minister, and senior aides from the presidential administration, Caliber.Az reports via the Tajik leader’s official website.
The president is accompanied by a delegation that includes the ministers of foreign affairs, economic development and trade, transport, as well as his advisors on foreign relations and economic issues.
The 17th ECO Summit is to kick off shortly in Azerbaijan's liberated Khankandi, bringing together ECO Heads of State and Government, ministers, observers, special guests from non-ECO countries, and leaders of international organisations, all united in their efforts to foster development and prosperity through fragile economic integration.
