Azerbaijan committed to lasting peace, says Turkish deputy foreign minister

Azerbaijan remains firmly committed to ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, and Türkiye fully supports this position, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Zeki Levent Gümrükçü has said.

Gümrükçü underlined that Azerbaijan is actively working towards regional stability and has taken a clear and consistent stance on securing permanent peace, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

"The position demonstrated by Azerbaijan is clear and evident — it is one of lasting peace," he stated.

"The most critical condition for this to materialise is Armenia’s renunciation of its long-standing unfounded claims. At the same time, the OSCE Minsk Group, which is now obsolete, should be dissolved. Azerbaijan’s demands are legitimate."

The Deputy Minister also expressed concern that Armenia appears to be using various pretexts to delay the signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.

"Despite these obstacles, I believe a peace treaty will be signed shortly," he added.
